Dear Parents and Friends
Parents and friends of the school have always played a key role in helping to raise funds for school projects and to provide excellent new initiatives for the children to enjoy including the timber trial, the stage, outdoor learning areas and many more. This has been achieved under the committee and a group of volunteers known as PIA (Parents In Action) and since the start of the school year last September, FACT @ Todwick School – ‘Families and Children Together’.
Louise Taylor and Natalie Beal are your key committee members of FACT. We all have experience in fund raising and event management and hope that we can work with the school to give the children some fantastic experiences throughout their school years and to raise some money for the school at the same time.
We would really like to encourage as many parents as possible to get involved in what we are trying to achieve and hope that more parents, grandparents and friends will come forward and throw some new ideas into the pot as well as helping to get them going!
For all the new parents to the school and so you all know a little bit more about who we are and hopefully to inspire you to join us and be involved in FACT, we have a quick statement from each of us below:
Louise Taylor - Secretary
“I have a daughter Emma in class 5 and also a daughter Libby in class 3 and so I am extremely enthusiastic to help make a difference within the school over the coming years and to see all the children thrive and enjoy all the benefits and opportunities offered to them from the fundraising events. I support a number of groups within the higher education sector with secretarial services and I also organise many conferences, workshops, seminars etc. so I hope my skills will help complement my new role on the committee.
Natalie Beal - Treasurer
Natalie has a son now in Y5 and her daughter left Y6 in July 2016
To get the most out of this group and to gain the biggest rewards we need to work as a team and the more volunteers we can have involved, the bigger and better the events can be! Whether it’s an hour a year or an hour a week, it will be a huge help and will make all the difference. So if you could serve a cup of coffee at the Harvest Festival, or paint a face at the scary disco or simply be there to supervise the children playing, please please please let us know.
If you have any questions or would simply like to talk to one of us about what we are doing or how you could help, please feel free to call or email on the details below and we will be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. If you are as excited as us and would be willing to send your contact details back so that we can contact you with the forthcoming events, please fill the bottom section of this page and hand it back to a teacher or the office in an envelope and we will be in touch.
We hope to keep these letters going so you know what is to come from FACT but in the meantime keep your eyes and ears open for the next social event!

We hope to have a fabulous year with your help.
Please cut and return slip in envelope to a teacher or office staff and we will contact you.

We have celebrated National Science and Engineering Week by taking two teams of scientists to Wales High School for an inter- primary science competition. We had to build pasta towers; test acids and alkalis; make electromagnets and investigate chromatography. Although we didn't win the competition, we had an awesome time and the Y6 team won the 'Best Teamwork' Award!
Today, we have baked chocolate flapjacks that will be sold at our Easter Cake Sale.
Don't forget to bring £1 to get a taste of our yummy treats!
Try these at home...
250g rolled oats
125g light brown sugar
2tbsp golden syrup
Mix ingredients together.
Place mixture into lined baking tray.
Bake for 15-20mins on Gas Mark 6.
